Irene
is a Spanish cellist currently based in the Netherlands, where she completed a master’s degree in 2022 in HKU Conservatorium in Utrecht with prof. Timora Rosler.
Irene studied with professors Enrique Bouché, Marina Sanchis, Elena Alarcón and Manuel Santapau at the CSMC “Salvador Seguí” in Castellón (Spain), from which she graduated in 2019. She also was the student of Miriam Roycroft in the Royal Irish Academy Of Music in Dublin (Trinity College).
In recent years, she has received advice from the Navarra Quartet, Maria de Macedo, Johannes Moser, Suzana Stefanóvic, Fernando Arias, Roger Regter and Anjali Tanna, among others.
Irene has a great interest in ensemble playing and has been part of different orchestras to expand her experience: het Nationaal Jeugdorkest, Youth Orchestra of the Comunitat Valenciana, Youth Orchestra of Luxembourg and Utrecht Youth Orchestra, among others. She was recently academist of the Irish Chamber Orchestra and the Orquestra Simfónica de les Illes Balears. She is currently a member of the Alida Quartet, the CelloWerken Cello Octet and the Duo Lilac.
She also enjoys playing contemporary music, which has lead her to premiere different works: the opera “Banished” by Stephen McNeff, the opera AER by Sophia Bardoutsou in The National Opera and Ballet (Amsterdam), and the piece for 11 instruments “Marin au Passage de Lyroise” by Aaron Karila.
